Important Usage Restrictions and Precautions

To avoid issues regarding the application of tungsten, keep in mind the following material characteristics:
Brittleness: Due to poor ductility, design and assembly must be stress-free and impact-free.
Oxidation: In the presence of air and at operating temps higher than 350 °C, tungsten will rapidly oxidize. However, it can be used for long periods at temps over 2000 °C in a vacuum or inert gas.
Contamination: For applications that are ultra-clean (for example, in semiconductor manufacturing), special cleaning, double vacuum packaging, and reports on the measurement of particulate and impurity elements are included in the contamination control.
Machining: Fine machining should be done with diamond tools or grinding and by qualified personnel, and this is especially true for tungsten.

1. Comprehensive testing and verification capabilities
Before shipment, all products are tested and verified by our internal labs to meet the requirements of the order and the standards. The main testing parameters are:
Chemical composition: The main elements are verified by spectroscopic analysis, and trace elements (oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and carbon) are determined by specialized tools, such as the fusion of inert gases.
Physical and mechanical properties: The density, hardness, and microstructure/grain size analysis.
Dimensions and surface: The geometric and surface finishing dimensions are verified with coordinate measuring machines, precise measuring tools, and surface roughness testers.
2. Quality Documentation for Traceability
Every shipment comes with a full set of quality documentation for your review and record-keeping.
Quality Certificate: Every Certificate of Analysis (COA) contains the following standard components: details of the supplier, description of the product, grade, specification, batch number, individual test results for each parameter, associated standard limits, test methodologies, and inspector’s signature.
Declaration of Conformity: Every Certificate of Conformity (COC) states that the product batch complies with the technical, standard, and legal requirements specified in the order.
3. Thorough Batch Traceability System
Using the furnace number/batch number, we can trace the history of every product both forwards and backwards. The traceability records consist of the following:
Source of Raw Material: Forwards and backwards identification of the suppliers, batches, and raw material inspection (e.g., tungsten powder) reports.
Key Process Records: Including records of sintering/forging temperature, machining, and heat treatment, etc.
Inspection and Release Records: Connected to all original inspection data and reports about that batch.
4. Specialized Controls for Semiconductor Applications
For applications that require high levels of purity and in semiconductor-related fields, we implement specific additional steps related to contamination control that go even beyond our standard procedures.
Processing in Clean Rooms: Final machining, cleaning, and inspection are completed in designated clean room areas to prevent contamination by unbounded particulates.
Packaging: To prevent both contamination and oxidation, vacuum packaging and packaging in dry, sealed nitrogen are performed in Class 100/1000 clean room bags, which are double vacuum sealed.
Reports: If asked, we can provide reports of particle counts from pre-packaging as well as test data regarding specific surface contaminants.
