Description of Gr5 Titanium Welding Wire
Aerospace vehicles work under extreme conditions such as ultra-high temperature, ultra-low temperature, high vacuum, high stress, and strong corrosion. In addition to relying on excellent structural design, they also rely on the excellent characteristics and functions of materials. Titanium alloy is known as "cosmic metal" and "space metal" because it combines the characteristics required by aerospace products.
Grade 5 Titanium Welding Wire is a very commonly used welding material in titanium alloy products. It has the advantages of high welding quality, high welding efficiency, strong and flawless weld seam, and low welding cost. It also improves the corrosion resistance of the workpiece after welding. abrasiveness and durability.
Grade 5 Welding Wire can be used for AC and DC welding and is also suitable for use in various welding techniques to provide high quality welded parts for aerospace equipment.
Features of Grade 5 Titanium Welding Wire
1. Excellent welding performance
Low thermal crack sensitivity: Al and V elements stabilize the α+β phase and reduce the tendency of welding thermal cracking.
High weld strength: post-weld tensile strength ≥895 MPa, close to the parent material performance (reasonable protection required).
Applicable to a variety of welding processes:
TIG welding (GTAW): high-purity argon protection, used for precision welding.
Plasma welding (PAW): deep penetration welding, suitable for thick plate welding.
Laser welding (LBW): high speed, low deformation, used for thin-walled parts.
2. High strength and lightweight
Tensile strength 895~930 MPa, yield strength ≥825 MPa, density only 4.43 g/cm³.
Specific strength (strength/density) far exceeds that of stainless steel welding wire (such as ER308L).
3. Excellent corrosion resistance
Resistant to seawater, chloride ions, organic acids, and oxidizing media, suitable for chemical pipelines and marine equipment.
The corrosion resistance of the welded joint is consistent with that of the parent material, and there is no risk of intergranular corrosion.
Manufacturing Process of Grade 5 Titanium Welding Wire
Smelting: Vacuum consumable arc melting (VAR) is used to ensure low impurities.
Processing: After hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing, and other processes, dimensional accuracy and surface quality are ensured.
Heat treatment: Usually, vacuum annealing is performed at 650℃ to optimize grain size and residual stress.
