Manufacturing Process of BT5 Titanium Bar
• Melting: three vacuum arc furnace (VAR) + electron beam cooling bed (EB-CHM), remove high and low density inclusions.
• Forging: 1100 ℃ multi-directional die forging → finishing rolling → 750 ℃ vacuum annealing, grain size ASTM 7-9 grade, straightness ≤0.5 mm/m.
• Isothermal stamping: used for hemispherical billets with an outer diameter of 350 mm, the weight is reduced from 36 kg to 8.5 kg, and the metal utilization rate is 0.15→0.64.
• It can be turned, milled and drilled; TIG welding wire of the same material ER-Ti-5Al-2.5Sn, weld strength coefficient ≥95%.
