Description of TZM Round Bar

 

TZM Round Bar is made from TZM alloy (titanium-zirconium-molybdenum), which is a high-temperature alloy containing 0.50% titanium, 0.08% zirconium, and 0.02% carbon. It is very suitable for use as mold materials, nozzle materials, high-temperature furnace heating elements, and other high-temperature resistant components.

 

TZM Round Bar is often made by the powder metallurgy method and the arc melting casting method. It has a high melting point, a high elastic modulus, a low linear expansion coefficient, high temperature resistance, good welding performance, corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, a polished surface, high strength, and hardness. A series of excellent properties, such as wear resistance, low cost, and long durability.

 

TZM Round Bar is commonly used in the furnace industry to construct heating elements, conductors, sinter disks, and other furnace components. It can also be used in electrodes in the lighting and glass manufacturing industries and as radiation shielding components in the medical field.

 

Features of TZM Round Bar

 

1. Ultra-high temperature performance
The melting point is as high as 2610℃, and it can work for a long time at 1200℃ (air) or 1800℃ (inert/vacuum), and the short-term temperature resistance is 2000℃.

The high temperature strength is significantly better than pure molybdenum, and the tensile strength at 1000℃ is ≥250 MPa (pure molybdenum is only 150 MPa).

2. Excellent creep resistance
The addition of Ti/Zr increases the recrystallization temperature to 1400℃ (pure molybdenum is 1000℃), reducing high-temperature deformation.

In the 1000℃, 100-hour creep test, the deformation is <1%.

3. Good thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity
The thermal conductivity is 142 W/(m·K), and the electrical conductivity is 34% IACS, which is suitable for high heat flux density scenarios.

4. Corrosion resistance and ablation resistance
Resistant to molten metal (copper, aluminum) erosion, plasma erosion, and used as the first wall material of nuclear fusion devices.

Poor oxidation resistance (>500℃ requires a protective atmosphere).
