Elkonite Copper Tungsten® alloys are commonly used in electrical & electrical/thermal applications.Also used successfully as facing on spot welding electrodes where heat balance or mechanical wear resistance are required. The initial premium cost of Elkonite® material is offset by lower production cost per weld due to long die life and less electrode dressing time. The high stability of Elkonite® material insures uniform heating and prevents misalignment, resulting in a higher quality weld.They are also used for facing and inserts for flash and butt welding dies, projection welding electrodes, seam welding bearing inserts, facing for electro-forming & electro-forging dies, and EDM electrodes.

High hardness and wear resistance: The hardness is above HRB 90, and the wear resistance is better than pure copper. It is suitable for high load conditions.
Arc erosion and high temperature resistance: Tungsten matrix is resistant to high temperature, the copper phase provides conductivity, and the working temperature is up to 3000°C.
Low thermal expansion and high density: CTE as low as 4.5×10⁻⁶/K, density 15g/cm³, suitable for high-precision scenarios.
