Application of Pure Tungsten Wire


1. Applications in Electronics and Electrical: Due to the pulsating ability at high temperatures, so far, pure tungsten wires have become common in filaments for electric bulbs and in heating elements for different types of electric heaters.

 

2. Electrodes: Pure tungsten wire is used as electrode material in arc welding in a number of process varieties such as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, and in electron beam welding among other high-energy beam processes.

 

3. Cathodes and Emitters: Electron and vacuum tubes use pure tungsten wire as cathode and other emitter elements because of its ability to withstand extremely high temperatures at which the electron emission occurs.

 

4. Thermocouples: Pure tungsten wire can be used in thermocouples, devices to measure temperature, due to its stability and ability to operate at very high temperatures.

 

5. Optics: Some optical devices, at times in a flash gun in a camera or possibly flashlights, have their light sources made with pure tungsten wire.
