Description of Incoloy 800 Nickel Alloy Tube
An Incoloy 800 alloy actually comprises 15-25% chromium and 30-45% nickel, having traces of aluminum and titanium. In the austenitic state, which is the state of alloy 800 after high temperature cooling, 800 is useful only and remains in the austenitic monophase region. 800 is useful in high-temperature austenitic state as it offers austenitic state cooling and also the ability to resist stress cracking. It also offers corrosion resistance. It can be employed in chemical industries, nuclear generators, and other apparatuses for exchanging heat, as well as in components that work with high-temperature and high-pressure water. The alloy is widely used in industries due to its high chromium and sufficient nickel content, which offer high temperature corrosion resistance.
The tubes made of Incoloy 800 nickel alloys possess exceptional characteristics and offer considerable benefits of their utilization. Their mechanical and structural properties withstand elevated temperatures and heat for prolonged periods of time, making their operational limit a whopping 880 degrees. These tubes do not experience carburization or oxidation. At elevated temperatures, a protective film of chromium oxide is created on the surface of alloy tubes. This film prevents the Incoloy 800 Nickel Alloy Tubes from being corroded by oxygen and carbon and significantly improves the service life of the tubes. In terms of corrosion, Incoloy 800 Nickel Alloy Tubes have some of the highest nickel contents and specialize in resisting corrosion cracking in water. These tubes possess high chromium contents, which improve the resistance of the tubes to crevice and pitting corrosion, even to nitric and some organic acids. Not only these, but the Incoloy 800 contains alloy tubes which possess high working strengths, enabling them to work with both hot and cold environments with ease.
