Molybdenum foil is a thin strip or foil made of high-purity molybdenum (Mo) material. It has excellent high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and electrical and thermal conductivity. It is widely used in electronics, aerospace, nuclear industry and other fields.

 

Molybdenum foil are formed by rolling the pressed and sintered molybdenum plates. Usually, 2-30mm-thick molybdenum is called molybdenum plate; 0.2-2mm-thick molybdenum is called molybdenum sheet; 0.2mm-thick molybdenum is called molybdenum foil.

 

Molybdenum plates with different thicknesses need to be manufactured by rolling machines with different models. The thinner molybdenum sheets and molybdenum foils have the better crimp property. When manufactured by a continuous rolling machine with tensile force and supplied in coils, molybdenum sheets and foils are called molybdenum strips.

 

Specifications

 

In the rolling process, slight oxidation of surfaces of molybdenum plates can be removed in an alkaline cleaning mode. Alkaline cleaned or polished molybdenum plates can be supplied as relatively thick molybdenum plates according to customer requirements. With better surface roughness, molybdenum sheets and foils do no need polishing in the supplying process, and can be subjected to electrochemical polishing for special needs. We can machine molybdenum plates, and can supply goods in the forms of round and square molybdenum.

High melting point: Molybdenum has a melting point of up to 2620°C, which is suitable for high temperature environments (such as vacuum furnaces, semiconductor equipment).

Good thermal/electrical conductivity: The conductivity is about 30% of copper, but the stability is better at high temperatures.

Low thermal expansion coefficient: It matches glass and ceramics and is suitable for sealing components.

Corrosion resistance: It is resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, but it is easily oxidized at high temperatures (inert gas protection is required).

Annealing: High temperature annealing after processing to eliminate internal stress.
