Description of Zirconium TIG Wire

Zirconium TIG wire is prepared specifically for zirconium metal welding. Like many metal wires, zirconium TIG wire is polished and has a smooth surface. Its appearance is a shiny silver wire, smooth to the touch, devoid of burrs, and free of roughness. Our zirconium TIG wire is produced in three common sizes: 1.6 mm, 2.0 mm, and 2.4 mm. Each wire maintains a length of 914 mm (36 inches) and possesses a straightness comparable to a chopstick. We package ten wires in a foil bag made of moisture-resistant aluminum and then place the bag in a cardboard tube. To the tube, we stick a label which summarizes the batch, diameter, quantity of wires, and production date so that the specification can be obtained with ease.

The whole wire consists of high-purity zirconium. This material has a remarkably high melting point and a high degree of corrosion resistance. It is still corrosion-resistant when exposed to strong acids, alkalis, and even seawater. To relieve processing stress, each wire is vacuum furnace-annealed and gradually cooled to room temperature. This promotes a ductile state and prevents cracking during welding. This treatment means the wire is considerably easier to bend. The wire can be U-shaped using fingertip pressure. The surface is so smooth that after pickling and polishing, it is bright enough to reflect a person's silhouette. The welding wire feeds smoothly through the TIG welding gun without binding, the arc is as steady as a pencil's lead, and the resulting welds are silver zippers, even and beautiful.
