Tungsten Heavy Alloy Parts

High-Density Tungsten Alloy is an alloy formed by adding nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), copper (Cu) or other metals to tungsten (W) as the matrix (usually accounting for 85%~98% by weight). This type of alloy is widely used in aerospace, military, medical and industrial fields due to its high density, excellent mechanical properties and radiation shielding capabilities.

Products Description

High-Density Tungsten Alloy (HDA) is an alloy formed by adding nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), copper (Cu) or other metals to tungsten (W) as the matrix (usually accounting for 85%~98% by weight). This type of alloy is widely used in aerospace, military, medical and industrial fields due to its high density (usually 16.5~18.5 g/cm³, close to 19.25 g/cm³ of pure tungsten), excellent mechanical properties and radiation shielding capabilities.

Features of Tungsten Heavy Alloy Parts:

High density: close to or exceeding the density of lead (11.34 g/cm³), but non-toxic and environmentally friendly, it is an ideal counterweight and radiation shielding material.

High strength: The tensile strength can reach 500~1000 MPa, which is better than pure tungsten (brittleness).

Good ductility: By adding elements such as Ni and Fe to improve the brittleness of pure tungsten, it can be processed into complex shapes.

Corrosion resistance: It is resistant to acid, alkali and atmospheric corrosion at room temperature, and some alloys require surface treatment to improve corrosion resistance.

Radiation shielding: It has strong absorption capacity for X-rays and gamma rays, which is better than lead.

High melting point: The melting point of tungsten (3422°C) makes the alloy suitable for high temperature environments.

Applications of Tungsten heavy alloy parts

1) Military and aerospace
Armor-piercing projectile core: uses high density and high hardness to improve penetration.

Missile counterweight: adjusts the center of gravity to improve flight stability.

Gyroscope rotor: high density provides high moment of inertia.

(2) Medical and radiation shielding
X-ray collimator: accurately controls the direction of radiation beam.

Radioactive isotope container: replaces toxic lead materials.

Radiotherapy shielding components: such as protective components in gamma knives.

(3) Industrial and civil
Vibration balance weight: used for precision instruments or automobile engines.

Oil drilling counterweight: corrosion-resistant and adaptable to high-pressure environments.

Sports goods: golf club counterweight, rowing ballast, etc.

FAQ

What is the density of high-density tungsten alloy?
A: Usually 16.5~18.5 g/cm³ (depending on the tungsten content), close to pure tungsten (19.25 g/cm³), more than twice that of steel and about 1.5 times that of lead.

Why choose tungsten alloy instead of lead or depleted uranium?
A:

Environmentally friendly and non-toxic: lead is toxic, depleted uranium is radioactive, and tungsten alloy is safer.

Comprehensive performance: strength and corrosion resistance are better than lead, and the cost is lower than depleted uranium.

Radiation shielding: The absorption efficiency per unit thickness is equivalent to that of depleted uranium and better than lead.

How to process high-density tungsten alloy parts?
A:

Cutting: carbide or diamond tools are required, and low-speed cooling is required to avoid edge collapse.

Molding process: mainly powder metallurgy, complex parts can use MIM (metal injection molding).

Welding: special processes are required (such as electron beam welding), and ordinary welding is prone to cracking.

Are you a factory or manufacturer?
A: Yes, we have a factory but we generally use our trading company to handle the business abroad. It will be convenient to receive the remittance and arrange the shipment.

What is the delivery method?
A: Generally, we send cargo by UPS, DHL or FedEx. Also, we can send by sea to seaport or by air to the closest airport.

Why is your product so cost-effective?

A: We cut out the middlemen in the end-to-end manufacturing process. Rather than obtaining semi-finished goods from other suppliers, we obtain our raw material of APT powder directly from its source.

Do you do spot quality inspection or full inspection?
A: 100% full inspection. Inspectors will check the finished product individually, to ensure they adhere to all parameters. All unqualified products are discarded.

How do you ensure your lead time?
A: We have an efficient Order Management System, from material preparation to machining, and finally to a full inspection. Every stage of production is strictly monitored and controlled to give you an accurate delivery time.

What is the MOQ ?
A: Depends on quantity, generally, no MOQ limit.

How to pay for it?
A: A bank transfer (T/T) will be acceptable.

What is the delivery time?
A: around 7-20 days which depends on the quantity and production.

What is kind of the package?
A: Generally, we use a carton case or plywood case with protective material inside to ensure the save of cargo

What is the lead time?
A: from order placed to cargo receiving will take around 10-25 days.
