The tungsten filled stem, or tungsten stem, refers to a type of stem or a shaft that is filled with tungsten or tungsten alloy in order to enhance its weight and/or performance in certain applications. Tungsten metal is famous for its claims of superiority in high density – almost twice that of lead, extreme hardness and resistance to wear.

 

Tungsten filled stems are custom manufactured for different applications. For example, with the right combination of infusible filler density (50 to 95 percent W), extreme wear resistance, and low thermal expansion rated at (4.5×10⁻⁶/°C), precise proportions of mechanical properties can be achieved while ensuring the right balance temperature sensitivity. Handles are now also available with diameters crowned from 5 to 50mm and surfacing treatment optional. Also referred to as the ultimate solution, handles balance compact mass, durability, precision, and marks the achron of performance engineering.

 

When matched against the more traditional weight bar, tungsten filled stem offers greater weight with regarding measurement shaft per foot. Aiding in letting the operator manipulate the friction causes, fluid viscosity, and pressure inside the well bore. Unlike the former, this T-bar also provided the kinetic energy with heavier weights which is turned into upward and downward jarring force.

Dual-material composite structure: The outer layer of high-strength alloy steel (such as 4140/4340) provides toughness, and the inner layer of tungsten alloy (W-Ni-Fe) bears the main tensile load.
Ultra-high density core material: Tungsten alloy density ≥17.5g/cm³, 30% lighter than pure steel core rod while improving tensile strength.
Anti-yield deformation: Axial rigidity is maintained at 200°C/15,000psi bottom hole environment to avoid "lock-up" accidents.
