Description of Beryllium Metal Disc
Beryllium metal discs are produced from high-purity beryllium ingots, which undergo vacuum melting. These ingots are then multi-directionally forged, hot-rolled into slabs, and subsequently precision-punched or CNC-turned into circular sheets. Standard grade is equivalent to ASTM B826 Grade S-65F, and S-200F and O-30-H are available upon request. Finished products have diameters between 5 mm and 300 mm and thicknesses between 0.1 mm to 25 mm. Diameter and thickness tolerances of these discs are in line with ASTM E1876 high-precision standards, with diameter tolerances of ±0.02 mm and thickness tolerances of ±0.005 mm. Default surface roughness is Ra ≤ 0.4 μm and can be improved to as low as Ra ≤ 0.1 μm with chemical or electrolytic polishing methods.
Each batch of raw materials undergoes vacuum induction melting at 1280°C ± 20°C under a vacuum of 5×10⁻³ mbar. Then, a homogenization treatment at 1050°C for 4 hours is performed to achieve a uniform grain size and oxygen content below 600 ppm. Slabs are hot rolled before coiling at 800°C, with a 30% control on deformation for each pass. These slabs are rolled and then refreshed with 2 hours of 650°C annealing to relieve stress. Final discs undergo ultrasonically cleansing, IPA rinsing, and nitrogen drying within a cleanroom. Each disc is then individually packaged into double-layer vacuum bags and sealed with nitrogen. The bags are laser-marked with the batch number, diameter, thickness, weight, and RoHS compliance markings. The outer packaging is reinforced with EPE cushioning and anti-static aluminum foil. Each box includes an EN 10204 3.1 material certificate, MSDS, and beryllium safety instructions.
