Products Description

Tungsten Copper Resistance Welding Electrodes are made of tungsten and copper alloys.

CuW55 copper tungsten material is used for flash and butt welding electrodes, suitable for applications requiring high heat resistance, relatively high electrical and thermal conductivity, high ductility, and low thermal expansion. This material is composed of 45% copper and 55% tungsten, forming a dense, hard metal with excellent wear resistance and strength.

CuW75 copper tungsten material contains 25% copper and 75% tungsten. It exhibits excellent wear resistance and strength, and good thermal and electrical conductivity. However, it is harder than class 10 and is suitable for applications requiring moderate pressure. Common applications include projection welding electrodes, flash and butt welding electrodes, slight upset and upset welding sleeves, and spot welding low-conductivity steels. It is also widely used in frames for chip carriers, substrates, flanges, and power semiconductor devices.

CuW80 copper tungsten material contains 20% copper and 80% tungsten. It has higher hardness compared to above alloys and is typically used for heavy-duty projection welding electrodes, electroplating and forging electrode faces for stamping screws and rivets, and cross-wire welding. It is also used as a liner material for special-shaped explosive charges used in defense and the oil and gas industry.

Features of Tungsten Copper Resistance Welding Electrodes

High Hardness and Strength: The addition of tungsten gives the electrode high hardness and strength, so it can withstand high temperatures and pressure during welding.

Good Electrical and Thermal Conductivity: The copper content ensures excellent conductivity and heat dissipation, which helps reduce thermal damage to the electrode.

Low Thermal Expansion: Tungsten-copper alloy has a low thermal expansion rate, meaning the electrode stays stable in size at high temperatures and maintains its shape and performance.

High Wear and Erosion Resistance: Tungsten-copper electrodes have outstanding wear and erosion resistance, allowing them to stay in good condition even after repeated welding operations.

Long Service Life: Thanks to their durability and resistance to wear, these electrodes last longer, reducing replacement frequency and lowering production costs.

applications of Tungsten Copper Resistance Welding Electrodes

Resistance Spot Welding: Tungsten-copper electrodes are ideal for demanding spot welding applications, such as automotive body welding and electronic component soldering. They can handle high currents and long welding cycles while maintaining stable weld quality.

Flash Butt Welding and Upset Welding: In flash butt welding and upset welding, tungsten-copper electrodes withstand high temperatures and pressure, ensuring strong and reliable weld joints.

Projection Welding: These electrodes are also used in projection welding, where high precision and strong welds are required.

Electron Beam Welding & Laser Welding: Tungsten-copper electrodes play a key role in high-precision electron beam and laser welding applications.

Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM): Besides resistance welding, tungsten-copper electrodes are widely used in EDM for creating complex molds and parts.
