Copper tungsten ring electrodes are made of Copper tungsten plate which is a pseudo alloy of copper and metallic tungsten. Due to the insolubility of copper and tungsten, this material is composed of distinct particles of one metal dispersed in a matrix of another metal.

Therefore, the microstructure is a metal based composite material, not a true alloy. It combines the properties of two metals with characteristics of high temperature resistance, erosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and easy processing. It also has the ability to resist arc erosion, mechanical wear, and contact welding.
