Products Description

Copper Tungsten Erosion Discs are made of tungsten copper alloy which has a wide range of applications, mainly used to manufacture contacts for high-voltage electrical switches that resist arc erosion, as well as high-temperature components such as rocket nozzle throat liners and tail rudders. It is also used as electrodes for electrical machining, high-temperature molds, and other applications that require electrical and thermal conductivity and high-temperature use.

Electrocorrosion machining is also a type of electrical discharge machining, but the discharge electrode is different from the traditional shape. Here, disc-shaped and wheel shaped electrodes are mainly used. According to your requirements, we can provide cup-shaped electrodes, bowl shaped electrodes, ring-shaped electrodes, electrode wheels, or any other form of product.

The characteristics of tungsten copper grinding wheel electrodes include high melting point, high wear resistance, excellent surface quality, and outstanding processing performance.

features

High Wear Resistance: The tungsten content gives the electrode excellent wear resistance. It maintains its shape even with repeated use, extending its lifespan and improving machining stability.

Excellent Conductivity: The high conductivity of copper ensures efficient and stable transmission of high-frequency electrical energy from the EDM generator to the workpiece. This enables a stable, consistent, and powerful erosion process, which is crucial for predictable material removal.

High Thermal Conductivity: It effectively dissipates heat generated in the spark gap away from the electrode tip and heat-sensitive PCD/PCBN workpiece materials. This minimizes thermal damage, micro-cracks, or graphite formation in the superhard abrasive layer.

High Density & Fine Microstructure: The dense, uniform microstructure ensures low electrode wear, extending its lifespan and reducing machining costs. It also helps the electrode maintain precise shape, directly resulting in superior surface finish (low roughness) and sharp edge definition on the machined PCD/PCBN tools.

Low Thermal Expansion: The electrode has strong dimensional stability, maintaining machining accuracy and consistency even at high temperatures.

High-Precision Machining: Copper-tungsten electrodes are manufactured with high precision, enabling high-accuracy machining results. They are especially suitable for edge machining of PCD tools, producing sharp and uniform cutting edges.

applications

Creation of Novel Instruments:

Cutting "tools" like routers, saw blades, and end mills undergo electrode precision machining where complex forms of cutting geometry, chip breakers, and edge preparation is integrated into PCD or PCBN segments post brazing. Electrode precision metrology ensures the final dimensional accuracy is achieved.

Sharpening and Re-shaping Obsolete Tools:

Obsolete superhard cutting tools like PCD or PCBN have their cutting edges restored to like new conditions in terms of sharpness, profile, and the more intricate details of geometry. This refinement greatly increases the functional longevity of such tools.

Adaptability to Different Electrical Discharge Machines:

The majority of contemporary PCD/PCBN EDM machines from Walter, Enokida, Vollmer, Lach, Anka are compatible. These machines employ rotational electrodes which are efficient and precise.
