Kovar seamless tube ASTM F15, Nilo-K, UNS K94610 (FeNi29Co17), 4J29,4J36
Kovar seamless tube ASTM F15 is made from Kovar alloy which is a nickel-iron-cobalt controlled-expansion alloy containing 29% nickel. Its coefficient of expansion, which decreases with rising temperature to the inflection point, matches the expansion rate of borosilicate glasses and alumina ceramics. Kovar is used for glass-to-metal seals in applications requiring high reliability or resistance to thermal shock. Kovar is used for high-power transmitting valves, transistor leads and headers, integrated-circuit lead frames, and photography flash bulbs.
Kovar seamless tube ASTM F15 has a linear expansion coefficient close to that of borosilicate hard glass at 20-450℃, a high Curie point, and good low-temperature structural stability. The alloy's oxide film is dense and can be well wetted by glass. It does not react with mercury and is suitable for use in instruments containing mercury discharge. It is the main sealing structure material for electric vacuum devices.
