Hastelloy B3 polished bar is a nickel-molybdenum (Ni-Mo) alloy bar. It is made by precision cold rolling or hot working. The surface is polished. It has a high finish (usually Ra≤0.8μm). The main elements of Hastelloy B3 polished bar are nickel (Ni≥65%) and molybdenum (Mo≈28-30%). It also has a little chromium (Cr≈1-3%) and iron (Fe≈1-3%). These make it better than the earlier B2 alloy in corrosion and heat resistance.

Features of Hastelloy B3 polished bar

 

Excellent corrosion resistance: Hastelloy B3 polished bar performs well in reducing acids (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid) and strong acid media. It is especially resistant to corrosion by hydrochloric acid of any concentration below boiling point. It also has excellent resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking (SCC).

Enhanced thermal stability: By adjusting its composition, Hastelloy B3 polished bar has less sensitivity to precipitate phases at high temperatures than B2 alloy. It can remain stable when used for a long time below 600℃.

Superior mechanical properties: The combination of high strength (tensile strength≥760MPa) and good ductility (elongation≥40%) of Hastelloy B3 polished bar makes it suitable for high stress environments.

Surface polishing advantages: The polished surface of Hastelloy B3 polished bar reduces surface roughness. It lowers the risk of medium adhesion and local corrosion. It is suitable for scenes with high cleanliness requirements.
