TZM Molybdenum Alloy Rods
TZM alloy (molybdenum-zirconium-titanium alloy) is one of the common high-temperature alloys among molybdenum-based alloys. Its basic metal composition content is 0.5% titanium, 0.08% zirconium and 0.02% carbon. Carbon is added to improve the strength of the alloy. Durability and mechanical properties.
TZM Molybdenum Alloy Rods are often made using powder metallurgy processes with high finished product quality and low processing costs. They undergo mixed pressing, cold isostatic pressing, rolling (cold rolling, hot rolling and warm rolling), annealing and polishing, cutting, etc. processing process.
TZM Molybdenum Alloy Rods are the material of choice for high-temperature industries. It has the characteristics of a high melting point, good high-temperature stability, good creep resistance, high tensile strength, a low thermal expansion coefficient, long service life, and strong thermal conductivity. It is often used to manufacture kilns. Structural parts, hot stamping molds, plastic injection nozzles, rotating anodes, brackets, fixtures, or carriers, etc.
Features of TZM Molybdenum Alloy Rods
1. Ultra-high temperature performance
The melting point is as high as 2610℃, and it can work for a long time at 1200℃ (air) or 1800℃ (inert/vacuum), and the short-term temperature resistance is up to 2000℃.
The high-temperature tensile strength is significantly better than pure molybdenum (still maintains 250 MPa at 1000℃).
2. Excellent creep resistance
Adding Ti/Zr to form solid solution strengthening, the recrystallization temperature is increased to 1400℃ (pure molybdenum is only 1000℃), reducing high-temperature deformation.
3. Good thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity
The thermal conductivity coefficient is 142 W/(m·K), and the electrical conductivity is 34% IACS, which is suitable for high heat flux density scenarios.
4. Corrosion resistance and ablation resistance
Resistant to molten metal (copper, aluminum) erosion, plasma erosion, used as the first wall material of nuclear fusion devices.
