Products Description
Molybdenum glass melting electrodes have a wide range of applications in the glass manufacturing industry. They are particularly suitable for the production of high-quality container glass, flat glass and specialty glass products. In the advanced materials sector, molybdenum electrodes play an important role in the manufacture of optical glass, technical glass and glass ceramics. The versatility of molybdenum electrodes extends to the production of glass fibers, where precise temperature control is critical. They are also used to melt frit compositions for glaze and overglaze applications, demonstrating their adaptability in different glass manufacturing processes.
Process of glass molybdenum electrode: isotactic pressing – sintering with medium frequency furnace – forging to various shapes – turning, rolling, planning and milling to finished parts. We can also offer different kinds of moly electrodes as your requirements.
We have produced molybdenum electrode for years, and spare no effort to the improvement of the electrodes performance. With the excellent characteristics of high strength, resistant to oxidation under high temperature, long life, good corrosion resistance, these high pure moly electrodes are widely used in many fields such as daily-use glass, optical glass, insulation material and glass fiber, and received good reputes.

Applications
The melting, homogenizing, feeding and shaping of glass products are some of the main applications for glass melting electrodes. As we know, glass melting electrodes are used as resistance heating elements that are submerged under a pool of molten glass and maintain the material at the proper processing temperature.
Electric boosting system: cooperates with gas/oil furnace to improve melting efficiency through electric heating.
Fully electric melting furnace: completely relies on electrodes to melt glass (commonly used for special glass, such as borosilicate glass and optical glass).
Key uses: used to melt high-purity glass (such as photovoltaic glass and liquid crystal display substrate glass).
Electrode structure
Rod electrode: commonly with a diameter of 20-100mm and a length of 0.5-2m, inserted into the side wall or bottom of the melting furnace.
Plate electrode: used in high current applications, with a larger surface area and reduced current density.
Water-cooled jacket design: some electrodes are equipped with a water-cooling system to protect the electrode root from high-temperature oxidation.
Comparison of alternative materials
Graphite electrode: low cost but easy to consume, suitable for low temperature or short-term use.
Tin oxide electrode: oxidation resistant but poor conductivity, high cost.
Platinum electrode: excellent corrosion resistance, but expensive, only used for high value-added glass.

FAQ
1. Why are molybdenum electrodes suitable for glass melting?
✅ High melting point (2620℃) can withstand the high temperature of glass melting (usually 1500-1600℃).
✅ Corrosion resistance: Good resistance to alkaline glass melts (such as soda-lime glass).
✅ Good conductivity: Suitable for electric heating melting process (all-electric melting or electric melting furnace).
2. Under what circumstances will the molybdenum electrode be damaged?
⚠️ Oxidation: High temperature exposure to oxygen will generate MoO3 (volatile), which requires inert atmosphere (such as nitrogen) protection.
⚠️ Chemical erosion: Lead, high boron or strong oxidizing glass may accelerate corrosion.
⚠️ Mechanical stress: Cold brittleness is large, and it is easy to break during installation or thermal shock.
3. How to extend the life of molybdenum electrodes?
🔹 Atmosphere control: Maintain a slight positive pressure in the kiln to prevent oxygen infiltration.
🔹 Cooling system: The electrode root is cooled by a water cooling jacket (to prevent oxidation and softening).
🔹 Current optimization: avoid local overload (current density is usually <1 A/cm²).
4. Are you a factory ?
Yes, we are a factory but generally we use our trading company to handle the business abroad. It will be convenient to receive the remittance and arrange the shipment.
5. What is the MOQ of Molybdenum glass melting electrodes.
A: Depends on quantity, generally, no MOQ limit.
6. How to pay for it?
A: A bank transfer (T/T) will be acceptable.
7. What is the delivery time?
A: around 7-20 days which depends on the quantity and production.
8. What is kind of the package?
A: generally, we use carton case or plywood case and with protective material inside to make sure the save of cargo
9. What is the lead time?
A: from order placed to cargo receiving will take around 10-25 days.
10. What is the delivery method?
A: Generally, we send cargo by UPS, DHL or FedEx. Also, we can send by sea to seaport or by air to the closest airport.
