Silver-tungsten Alloy Plate

Silver tungsten alloy (W-Ag) is also called tungsten silver alloy, is the composite of tungsten and silver. High conductivity, thermal conductivity, and a high melting point of silver on the other hand high hardness, welding resistance, small material transfer, and high burning resistance of tungsten are combined into silver tungsten sintering material. While tungsten content improves, the electric arc and wear resistance will increase, the thermal and electrical conductivity will reduce.

Products Description

Silver tungsten alloy (W-Ag) is also called tungsten silver alloy, is the composite of tungsten and silver. High conductivity, thermal conductivity, and a high melting point of silver on the other hand high hardness, welding resistance, small material transfer, and high burning resistance of tungsten are combined into silver tungsten sintering material. Silver and tungsten are not compatible with each other. Silver and tungsten binary alloys are typically manufactured via powder metallurgy. For tungsten content over 60%, we will use the infiltration method. The properties of Tungsten composites are related to the silver-to-tungsten ratio. While tungsten content improves, the electric arc and wear resistance will increase, the thermal and electrical conductivity will reduce.

Features of Silver tungsten alloy

Physical Properties: It has a relatively high melting point and density, typically ranging between 11.75-16.10 g/cm³, with the specific value depending on the content of silver and tungsten. It exhibits considerable hardness, which further increases with higher tungsten content.

Electrical Properties: The electrical conductivity is relatively low but improves with an increase in silver content. Its contact resistance is relatively high, primarily due to the tendency to form oxide layers and silver-tungsten compounds on the surface.

Corrosion Resistance: It demonstrates excellent resistance to arc erosion, maintaining stability under high-current conditions. Additionally, it offers good wear resistance and anti-welding performance.

Applications of Silver tungsten alloy

Power Systems

AgW (silver-tungsten) alloy plates are key components in high-voltage switches and circuit breakers (100-10,000A). Their high melting point, density, and arc resistance ensure stable performance under extreme conditions, preventing contact welding and extending service life.

Electronics Industry

Used in connectors, switches, and EDM electrodes, AgW alloy offers excellent wear resistance and heat dissipation. Its high melting point and conductivity make it ideal for precision machining.

Aerospace

In the aerospace sector, AgW alloy plates play a critical role. For example, they are used in aircraft engine ignition systems to manufacture ignition electrodes. Thanks to their high melting point and excellent arc erosion resistance, they can operate reliably under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, ensuring consistent engine ignition.

Automotive

In automotive manufacturing, AgW alloy plates are primarily used in ignition systems and electronic control units. For instance, they are employed in spark plug electrodes, where their high melting point and superior arc erosion resistance ensure stable performance under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions, enhancing ignition efficiency and engine reliability.

Industrial Automation

In industrial automation, AgW alloy plates are widely used in electrical contact components for various automated equipment. For example, they are utilized in motor brushes and contactors for robots and robotic arms in automated production lines.

FAQ

Are you a factory or manufacturer?

Yes, we are a factory but generally, we use our trading company to handle the business abroad. It will be convenient to receive the remittance and arrange the shipment.

What is the delivery method?

A: Generally, we send cargo by UPS, DHL or FedEx. Also, we can send by sea to seaport or by air to the closest airport.

Why Is Your Product So Cost-Effective?

We cut out the middlemen in the end-to-end manufacturing process. Rather than obtaining semi-finished goods from other suppliers, we obtain our raw material of APT powder directly from its source.

Do You Do Spot Quality Checks Or Full Checks?

100% full inspection. Inspectors will check the finished product individually, to ensure they adhere to all parameters. All unqualified products are discarded.

How Do You Ensure Your Lead Time?

We have an efficient Order Management System, from material preparation to machining, and finally to a full inspection. Every stage of production is strictly monitored and controlled to give you an accurate delivery time.

What is the MOQ of AgW Silver Tungsten Alloy Plate?

A: Depends on quantity, generally, no MOQ limit.

How to pay for it?

A: A bank transfer (T/T) will be acceptable.

What is the delivery time?

A: around 7-20 days which depends on the quantity and production.

What is kind of the package?

A: Generally, we use a carton case or plywood case with protective material inside to ensure the save of cargo

What is the lead time?

A: from order placed to cargo receiving will take around 10-25 days.

Why is AgW alloy preferred for electrical contacts?

Resists arc erosion and welding under high currents

Maintains stability in extreme temperatures

Long-lasting durability in high-frequency operations

How does tungsten content affect AgW alloy performance?

Higher tungsten increases hardness and wear resistance

Higher silver improves electrical conductivity

Can AgW alloy be used in high-temperature environments?

Yes, its high melting point and thermal stability make it suitable for aerospace and automotive applications.

Is AgW alloy corrosion-resistant?

It offers good oxidation resistance but may form surface oxides over time, which can affect contact resistance.
