Description of Titanium Forgings

 

Titanium Forgings are mainly made of titanium alloy materials through various forging processes in forging equipment, including shapes such as blocks, shafts, discs, flanges, rings, and seamless rolled rings. The main forging processes of titanium alloys are free forging, partial die forging, extrusion die forging, multi-directional die forging, and isothermal die forging.

 

Compared with other titanium products, Titanium Forgings have the advantages of high cost-effectiveness, good impact resistance, high tensile strength, superior processing performance, strong corrosion resistance, and long service life.

Forging Process of Titanium Forgings


• Free forging: suitable for single-piece and large billets, such as Φ1200 mm discs, initial forging 900-950 ℃, final forging ≥750 ℃;
• Die forging/isothermal die forging: used for blades and valve bodies, die preheating 250-350 ℃, glass lubrication, one-time forming, machining allowance ≤3 mm;
• Ring rolling: production of ring parts (flanges, shells), outer diameter 200-4000 mm, height 50-500 mm, wall thickness difference ≤2 mm.

 

Surface and post-treatment


• Standard: machining Ra≤3.2 μm; optional electrolytic polishing Ra≤0.4 μm, or micro-arc oxidation 5-15 μm TiO₂ layer, improve wear resistance by 2 times;
• Laser cladding β-Ti wear-resistant layer, thickness 0.5-1 mm, for drilling joints.


Machining and welding


• Deep hole drilling and threading; diffusion welding with stainless steel 900 ℃/10 MPa/30 min, interface strength ≥200 MPa;
• Welding: ER Ti-2 welding wire for TIG, shielding gas 99.999% Ar, weld strength coefficient ≥95%.
