Description of TZM Molybdenum Alloy Round Rod
TZM alloy is a particle-strengthened molybdenum-based alloy containing titanium, zirconium, and carbon, and it is also the earliest industrial molybdenum alloy.
It is generally manufactured by the smelting method and the powder metallurgy method. In some application fields, molybdenum-based materials with high welding performance, strong creep resistance, strong heat resistance, and very high strength and hardness are required. The brittle reactants are removed through the strengthening of trace elements, and the material properties are greatly improved.
In addition, TZM Molybdenum Alloy Round Rods are particularly ductile and processable and are the base material for the production of other shapes such as discs, wires, tubes, and sputtering targets.
Features of TZM Molybdenum Alloy Round Rod
Ultra-high melting point and high temperature strength
The melting point is as high as 2610°C, and it still maintains high strength (better than pure molybdenum by more than 30%) in the range of 1200°C~1600°C, and has excellent creep resistance.
Excellent thermal shock resistance
Low thermal expansion coefficient (4.8×10⁻⁶/°C) and high thermal conductivity (142 W/m·K), can withstand rapid temperature changes (such as thermal shock during rocket engine ignition).
Good corrosion resistance
Resistant to molten metals (such as copper and aluminum), excellent stability in non-oxidizing atmospheres (such as vacuum and inert gas), but requires coating protection in oxidizing environments.
Work hardening characteristics
High hardness at room temperature (HV≥250), high-temperature hot processing (such as hot rolling and hot forging) is required, but plasticity can be improved by annealing.
