1. Ultra-High Density (Core Advantage)
Density is 16.5-18.5 g/cm³ (close to the 19.3 g/cm³ of pure tungsten), significantly higher than steel (7.8 g/cm³) and lead (11.3 g/cm³).
A compact design allows for large counterweights, saving space (e.g., aircraft wing counterweights).
2. High Strength and Wear Resistance
Tensile strength ≥800 MPa, hardness 25-35 HRC, impact resistance, and resistance to deformation (which is common with lead counterweights).
A nickel-iron (Ni-Fe) binder phase enhances toughness, avoiding the brittleness of pure tungsten.
3. Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Resistant to seawater, acid mist, and salt spray, it is suitable for use in harsh environments such as ships and offshore platforms.
