Products Description

HD17BB tungsten alloy rod provides the benefits of both iron and copper. Its ingredient is 90% tungsten,6% nickel and 4% copper/iron. It is Class 1 product of ASTM-B-777 tungsten alloy rod. While still an excellent choice for tooling, it is also recognized as a cost-effective alternative to traditional tungsten, nickel, and iron alloys. HD17BB meets the requirements for AMS-7725, AMS-T-21014, MIL-T-21014D, as well as the current ASTM-777-07 Class 1 specifications.

Features

High Density: With a density of 17 g/cm³, it performs well in applications requiring dense materials, such as counterweights or balancing blocks.

High Strength: It has an ultimate tensile strength of 110,000 PSI and a yield strength of 90,000 PSI, so it can withstand heavy mechanical stress.

Good Thermal Properties: Its thermal expansion coefficient is low (5.4×10⁻⁶/°C at 20~400°C), and its thermal conductivity is high (96.0 W/m·K). As a result, it maintains dimensional stability in high-temperature environments and efficiently transfers heat, reducing thermal fatigue.

Low Magnetism: It is slightly magnetic, making it ideal for applications sensitive to magnetism, such as electronic sensors and medical devices.

Good Machinability: Although tungsten is naturally brittle, adding alloy elements significantly improves HD17BB's machinability. Therefore, it can be processed into various shapes and sizes.

Applications

Aerospace Applications:
Used in aircraft inertial systems, fluid control systems, and counterweights. Its high density and strength help optimize weight distribution and structural strength of aircraft.

Medical Field:
Applied in medical equipment like X-ray collimators and radiation therapy devices. It's also used in isotope production, transport, and storage systems. Its radiation shielding properties effectively protect both patients and medical staff.

Oil & Gas Industry:
Used in well-logging equipment for exploration. The high density and strength ensure stable performance in high-pressure, high-temperature downhole environments.

Machining Applications:
Serves as lathe tool holders to improve machining stability and precision while reducing vibration.

Defense Sector:
Used for counterweights and radiation shielding components. Its high strength and low magnetism make it valuable for military equipment.
