Description of Titanium Square Rod

 

Titanium square bars are made from annealed Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy conforming to ASTM B348. They are melted using vacuum consumable electrodes, followed by billeting, hot rolling, multi-pass cold drawing, and in-line annealing. Raw materials undergo 100% ultrasonic testing before entering the factory to confirm the absence of cracks, pores, and inclusions before production begins. Hot rolling is performed at 950°C ± 10°C, with deformation per pass controlled within 15%, followed by air cooling to room temperature. The cold drawing process utilizes graphite emulsion lubrication, with a cumulative area reduction of no more than 60%. Intermediate annealing is performed at 700°C for 2 hours at a vacuum of ≤1×10⁻² Pa to eliminate work hardening and refine the grain size.

The finished product is finished using a combination of centerless and surface grinding machines to achieve four-sided parallelism ≤0.02 mm, perpendicularity ≤0.05 mm, and longitudinal straightness ≤0.1 mm/m. Cross-sectional tolerances adhere to H9. The surface is sandblasted with 120# white corundum and then electropolished to a uniform matte silver-gray color (Ra ≤ 0.4 µm). Standard cross-sectional specifications for titanium square bars include 5 mm × 5 mm, 6 mm × 6 mm, 8 mm × 8 mm, 10 mm × 10 mm, 12 mm × 12 mm, 15 mm × 15 mm, and 20 mm × 20 mm. Lengths from 1 m to 3 m are available. Custom cross-sections and stepped end faces can also be customized according to customer drawings.
