1. Material Selection
Annealed (AMS 4911 Annealed): Suitable for general machining, good ductility.

Solution-aged (STA): Higher strength (for load-bearing components).

2. Forming Process
Cold Stamping: Thicknesses <2mm can be directly formed, but springback must be controlled.

Hot Forming: Complex curved surfaces require heating to 700-800°C.

3. Surface Treatment
Pickling and Passivation: Removes the oxide layer and restores corrosion resistance.

Anodizing: Produces a colored insulating film (such as blue or gold).

4. Welding Precautions
Shielding Gas: High-purity argon (99.999%), with a back shield required.

Post-weld Heat Treatment: Relieves residual stresses (600-700°C).
