Description of Molybdenum Copper Rod
Molybdenum Copper Rod is a pseudo-alloy composed of molybdenum and copper, which has the excellent characteristics of the two metals, such as high melting point, low thermal expansion coefficient, good thermal conductivity, high arc breaking performance, good sealing and machinability, non-magnetic, gas content, excellent high temperature resistance, high wear resistance, lighter than tungsten copper, and good durability.
Molybdenum Copper Rod is mainly made by the melting method. It is suitable for use as a heat sink sealing material for military high-power microelectronic devices, a high-temperature resistant material for aerospace, an electrode material for EDM, and other high-temperature industrial cooling and absorbing materials.
Features of Molybdenum Copper Rod
1. Excellent Thermal Performance
High thermal conductivity: Thermal conductivity of 160-220 W/(m·K) (close to pure copper), allowing for rapid heat dissipation.
Low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE): 5.5-8.5×10⁻⁶/°C (adjustable), compatible with semiconductor materials (such as Si and GaAs), reducing thermal stress.
2. High Strength and High-Temperature Resistance
The molybdenum skeleton provides strength: Tensile strength of 300-600 MPa (depending on copper content), and resistance to deformation at high temperatures (softening temperature > 1000°C).
The copper phase enhances toughness, avoiding the brittleness of pure molybdenum.
3. Non-magnetic & Corrosion-Resistant
Non-magnetic, compatible with precision instruments (such as MRI equipment).
Resistant to non-oxidizing acids, but copper is susceptible to oxidation in humid environments (requiring nickel plating for protection).
